THE OPERA HOUSE

About The Opera House

735 Queen St East

Toronto, Ontario M4M 1H1

The Opera House is one of Toronto's most historic performance venues; an intimate, century-old theatre opening in 1909 as the La Plaza Theatre, an Edwardian vaudeville stage.

Seating almost 700, it was the main entertainment venue in the primarily working-class neighbourhood. As films eclipsed vaudeville, the theatre was turned into a cinema, continuing to use the name La Plaza Theatre until the 1960s, and later under a series of other names. It became The Opera House in the early 1990s.

Now Lunacy Cabaret is returning this amazing piece of history to its roots by presenting our unique brand of now-adays vaudeville, burlesque, circus, music and general lunacy back to the stage! JOIN US!
